Naval Construction Battalion Center, based in Port Hueneme, California, is the West Coast homeport for the Navy Seabees. Port Hueneme, actually pronounced “why nee mee”, trains and supports mobilization for over 2,600 active personnel. This base, commonly abbreviated CBC or CBC Port Hueneme, also commands and operates Naval Base Ventura County. Located just 60 miles northwest of Los Angeles, CBC Port Hueneme is on the Southern California cost, on the Oxnard Plain, a highly agricultural area,
One unique thing about this CBC is that it has a museum. The Navy Seabee Museum, which is one of only 15 US Navy Museums worldwide, is located on Naval Base Ventura County. It is home to the Seabee archive, which contains all the operational records, manuscripts, biographies, battalion histories, and personal papers from past Seabees.
The Naval Construction Battalion Center is home to Naval Mobile Construction Battalions 3, 4, 5, and 40. It is also host to the Underwater Construction Team 2, the 1st and 30th Naval Construction Regiment, and the 31st Seabee Readiness Group.
