Naval Air Station Pensacola

Naval Air Station Pensacola is often referred to as “The Cradle of Naval Aviation”. It is located just next to Warrington, Florida, which is just south of the Pensacola city limits. NAS Pensacola is the primary training station for Navy, Marine, Coast Guard and Naval Flight officers. NAS Pensacola is perhaps most famous for playing home to the legendary Blue Angels, the US Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, and arguably the best pilots in the world.

Besides training pilots, NAS Pensacola also trains all Navy medical personnel, and is home to NAOMI, or the Naval Air and Operation Medical Institute. It also trains the Navy’s psychologists and physiologists, as well as aircraft repair personnel.

Forrest Sherman Field is also part of NAS Pensacola. Sherman Field, which is home to the Blue Angels. Sherman Field boasts 131 active aircrafts, and a total of around 110,000 flight operations per year. This makes it one of the most active airfields in the Navy, and gives it the well-earned name the Cradle of Naval Aviation.
