United States Naval Academy

The United States Naval Academy, which is often referred to as USNA or Annapolis, is a federal service academy located in the town of Annapolis, Maryland. It is the training grounds for most of the Navy’s servicemen and officers, and is the second oldest training academy in the US. The academy was established in 1845, and has been in use ever since. The base is located about 33 miles east of Washington, DC, which is appropriate considering the purpose of the base.

Approximately 1,000 people graduate from USNA every year, with about 1,300 new people each year. It’s very difficult to get into the United States Naval Academy, and just being in the academy usually qualifies you as an officer-in-training. The large 338 acre campus provides plenty of room for everything the academy has to offer, which includes academics, military training (both physical and leadership-based), and competitive athletics, which are mandatory for all students. Annapolis is a very tough academy, both physically and mentally. However, it offers some of the best training the Military has to offer, and is usually free for those who sign military contracts.
