Naval Hospital Beaufort is located in Port Royal, South Carolina. It is one of the very few medical complexes that is actually on its own. Most medical centers in the navy, and the rest of the military for that matter, are part of larger bases or complexes. But Naval Hospital Beaufort is completely self-standing, and is quite sizable considering this. There are around 200 hospital beds available for military personnel and family members at Naval Hospital Beaufort.
The hospital was commissioned on August 29, 1949 and has been in use ever since. It serves soldiers and family members from nearby bases MCRD Parris Island, and MCAS Beaufort. It primarily serves the Marine Corps, but there are support facilities in Naval Hospital Beaufort for other servicemen. Unlike some military hospitals, Naval Hospital Beaufort has a very welcoming atmosphere. They are all about customer service and getting soldiers and their families the care they deserve. The hospital deals primarily with minor health issues, surgeries, etc. but has also done some emergency combat surgeries in the past.
